Twelve people were injured on Sunday May 26 on a Qatar Airways plane connecting Doha to Dublin, due to turbulence while flying over Turkey, the Irish capital’s airport announced. “Six passengers and six crew members (12 in total) reported being injured in turbulence while the plane was flying over Turkey,” Dublin Airport said on X (formerly Twitter), without specifying the seriousness of the injuries.

The Qatar Airways plane “landed safely as planned at Dublin Airport shortly before 1 p.m. this Sunday”, added the airport. Emergency services, including airport police and fire and rescue services, were mobilized.

This incident comes after the death of a 73-year-old British man on a Singapore Airlines flight between London and Singapore on Tuesday due to extreme turbulence. Around 100 people were injured, many suffering injuries to the skull, brain and spine. Photos taken inside the Singapore Airlines plane after it landed in Bangkok showed a topsy-turvy cabin, littered with food, drinks and luggage, with oxygen masks dangling from the ceiling.
