TVA Group | The Yoopa youth channel gives way to QUB radio

(Montreal) The TVA group is abandoning its Yoopa youth channel created 13 years ago to replace it with a television broadcast of its QUB radio channel.

In a press release published Monday, TVA specifies that it made this decision due to “increased competition from foreign platforms in youth content”.

Launched in 2010, the Yoopa channel offered children’s content without commercial breaks. Programs produced in Quebec have been broadcast over time, including Theo, The Stars of the Dodo And Yum !.

Youth content will be available on TVA’s video-on-demand service, Club illico.

TVA says it wanted to refocus on information and public affairs by broadcasting its QUB radio broadcasts.

Thus, all of the radio station’s programming will be broadcast on this new specialized channel. QUB radio was launched five years ago and has hosts such as Benoit Dutrizac, Richard Martineau, Mario Dumont and Sophie Durocher.

The TVA Group is in the process of restructuring. Earlier this month, the company announced the layoff of 547 employees, or 31% of its workforce.

The company’s restructuring includes the overhaul of its information sector, the end of its internal production activities in entertainment content and the optimization of its real estate portfolio.
