The novelty
Two girls in the toilet
As its title suggests, this web series of sketches presents humorous conversations between girls… in this kind of place. The first episode takes us to the bathrooms of a wedding; the second, to those of an office; the third, to a dirty blue chemical toilet, the kind you avoid unless it’s an extreme emergency. (We think we held our breath for the entire six-minute episode.) Based on an original idea by Isabelle Monette and François Paquet, this Taïga Média production stars two actresses with impeccable comic timing, Daphnée Côté-Hallé (Miscellaneous facts) and Marie Eve Morency (King Street, Jowanne, the shrink of the stars).

The surprise
The matchmakers
The daily life of a wedding planner is full of twists and turns. We realize this by watching this docureality from Pixcom productions (Autistic, soon to be an adult, Father of 100 children), which focuses on the work of three passionate organizers, Marilyn Mahotières, Valérie Bigras and Andrée-Anne Tessier. Lost wedding rings, a dress that became too small a few weeks before the big day, a future groom who turns back at the last minute, a reception hall that closes its doors, a priest who books two different weddings at the same time… These many unforeseen events and obstacles, clients would happily do without. But as viewers, we enjoy them! And what about the high-end cake ($$$) six feet high that we see in the first episode…

A summer without a point or a hit
This drama by director Francis Leclerc (The plunger, The Time Snatcher) is one of those rare films that you can watch every year without ever getting tired of it. And the more years go by, the more our nostalgic fiber is tickled. Based on a screenplay by Marc Robitaille (The perfect moments), A summer without a point or a hit tells the story of Martin (Pier-Luc Funk), a young Montreal Expos fan who, after failing to join the local baseball team, forms a B team made up of castaways, which his father (Patrice Robitaille) will try to lead. Real fans will notice the appearances of a few faces familiar to fans, including Denis Boucher, Rodger Brulotte and Claude Raymond.
Télé-Québec, Sunday at 9:30 p.m.

The Devil Wears Prada
Last week, after learning that a sequel to the film The devil wears Prada (in original English version, The Devil Wears Prada) was in the works, we rewatched this 2006 feature to see if it had aged well. Although 18 years later, the tyrannical behavior of Miranda Priestly (excellent Meryl Streep) seemed even more unacceptable to us than in 2006 (hello, psychological harassment), and we rolled our eyes as soon as Nate (Andrea’s boyfriend) appeared on screen (a spoiled brat who gives little or no support to his girlfriend), director David Frankel’s comedy still holds up. Another observation: Emily Blunt steals the show from Anne Hathaway. That’s all.
