The surprise
Nobody Wants This
Sometimes the chemistry between two actors is so palpable that it leaps off the screen and makes us want to scream, “Get a room!” That’s how we could sum up our opinion on Nobody Wants Thisa series starring Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Veronica Mars) and Adam Brody, who we had more or less lost sight of since The OC. This romantic comedy, about the unlikely relationship between Joanne, a streetwise podcast host, and Noah, an unconventional rabbi, is the perfect antidote to this fall’s deluge of drama. Another sign of quality: Steven Levitan, the writer and producer behind Modern Familysigns part of the texts.

The roll of the dice
Dance !
Wanting to capitalize on the enormous success of RevolutionFair-Play and Québecor Content are offering a fiction series centered around a young man (Jeremyah Mogni) who auditions for FLOW, which is described as “the biggest dance competition in the country.” The first two episodes include several dance sequences… which unfortunately lack the wow factor. As for the storyline, the many shortcuts often prevent us from believing in it. As a result, we are left wanting more. But perhaps a younger audience with a taste for dance will appreciate the series, which features Patrice Ouimet (No appointment required) as director and Sarah-Maude Beauchesne (Beautiful flower, The Academy) as author. Maxime Le Flaguais and Bianca Gervais play the judges of the competition.

The novelty
Steak, corn, potatoes
First of all, let’s take the time to salute this genius title, which gives off a strong smell of shepherd’s pie. With a bit of luck, it will capture the attention of an entire generation of viewers who watched The little life. The latter will find a documentary series in which host Jonathan Roberge presents the culinary and gastronomic history of Quebec in the company of a nice bunch of guests (we gave ourselves permission to use this expression given the theme of the show). Among his guests, we can mention Liza Frulla, Janette Bertrand, Sister Angèle, Bob le Chef, Colombe St-Pierre and Daniel Vézina. A production by Émilie Ricard-Harvey (Travel differently with friends, A new day).

This second season will tell stories of resilience, such as those of May Lim, a young woman who continues to run marathons despite a rare disease, and Éric Lavoie, a father who plays wheelchair rugby. The former is supported by Julien Pinsonneault, a young man who loves running; the latter, by his children. Directed by Pierre-Antoine Fournier (We always take a train for life) which comes from Julie Snyder’s Productions J.
