The documentary
The perfect score
Broadcast in Europe last spring, this Franco-Swiss documentary revisits a pivotal period in Céline Dion’s rise to fame: her participation in Eurovision in 1988. Using archive footage rarely—if ever—broadcast in Quebec, directors Vincent Gonon and Noël Tortajada meticulously recount the contest’s progress. We see some of the candidates that the Quebec artist, then 20, beat out, including (and this is no joke) a pianist with a clown’s nose. This 55-minute show should also please fans who think they know everything about Céline. “I was surprised to learn things!” one fan who wishes to remain anonymous told us.

The return
Wheel of Fortune
The game show landscape will undergo a major transformation this week: Wheel of Fortune changes host. Ryan Seacrest takes the reins of the famous quiz show, after four decades of Pat Sajak’s reign. Accustomed to iconic shows after having piloted (or co-piloted) American Idol, Live with Kelly and Ryan And Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ EveSeacrest will be like a fish in water at the helm of the daily meeting. As for the faithful, they will find a constant: the legendary Vanna White will resume her role as hostess and will continue to “turn” the letters. In other words, this Lucky wheel is not about to go bankrupt.
NBC, starting Monday at 7:30 p.m.

What talent!
Without even watching a single episode of the Quebec adaptation of the popular British format, we know we’ll be entertained. At least that’s what we thought when Noovo recently launched its programming. Seeing the contest judges Marie-Mai, Rachid Badouri and Anne Dorval interact on stage (Serge Denoncourt was stuck in Paris), we thought we’d give this umpteenth talent competition a chance. With her famous outspokenness, and especially her excessive reactions, Anne Dorval should put on quite a show. For this first season, the quartet will welcome singers, comedians, dancers and even magicians. Only one of them will leave as the winner and take home the grand prize of $100,000.
Noovo, Monday to Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

MTV Video Music Awards
The gala we watch to cry… and to realize that we’re getting older, since the more years go by, the less we know the songs selected. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the ceremony was postponed by 24 hours to avoid facing the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The program of performances includes those of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Megan Thee Stallion, Lenny Kravitz, Shawn Mendes and Benson Boone (no idea who it is, proof that we’re getting older). As for the finalists, Taylor Swift (again) leads the way with 12 selections, followed by Beyoncé, Post Malone and Ariana Grande. A tribute trophy will be awarded to Katy Perry.
MTV, Wednesday at 8 p.m.
