The Tragedy of Macbeth (AppleTV+)

Joel Coen offers a very successful adaptation, close to the masterpiece, which moves away from realism to plunge us into a waking nightmare. The film, entirely in black and white, is carried by superb images and a magnificent dreamlike, claustrophobic setting. Denzel Washington radiates in the title role, and Frances McDormand in Lady Macbeth, a role made to measure for this great actress twice Oscar winner.

Luc Boulanger

The Morning Show (AppleTV+)

Yes, the scenario scatters in all directions and stretches the rubber band of verisimilitude. But just to see two great actresses (Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon) at work, it’s worth watching both seasons of this TV series that takes us behind the scenes of a morning show at the Hi hello.

Hugo Dumas

A hero (Amazon Prime Video)

Thanks to a story where contradictions often collide, both on the side of the hero and on that of all the people involved in this story, Asghar Farhadi orchestrates an exciting suspense, very revealing of the society in which he lives, which could also be ours. Don’t be surprised if Farhadi ends up at the Oscars again.

Marc-Andre Lussier

dopesick (Disney+)

The story is complex, has many ramifications, and the series does not always contribute to simplifying things, at least in the first three episodes, in particular by multiple jumps in time not always judicious. But to understand the disastrous impact of OxyContin, and for Michael Keaton’s endearing portrayal in the lead role, dopesick deserves attention.

Encanto (Disney+)

With every animated film, Disney raises the bar and creates high expectations. With Encantothe team of creators responds with its lively songs that go to the rhythm of Colombian music, with a good dose of humor, as much in the visual details as in the dialogues, and with the extreme beauty of its images.

Wanda Vision (Disney+)

Fans of American series will get a kick out of the first episodes of Wanda Visionwhich pay homage to some of the biggest hits on the small screen of the past five decades, such as The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, Malcolm in the Middle and Modern Family. Let yourself be carried away by the action, be patient, and you will have all the pieces of the puzzle in your hands.
