Tuuli House | A turnkey decoration service

Fascinated by beauty, Valérie Morisset and Jacinthe Piotte joined forces to create Maison Tuuli, a showroom inviting where they offer a personalized interior design service, dictated by the importance of textiles and the right arrangement of new finds or vintage.

Valérie Morisset was editor-in-chief of House & Home when she became interested in the work of Jacinthe Piotte, artistic director known for the decorations of the LOV and Bloom restaurants in Old Montreal. The meeting took place in the chalet of a client of Jacinthe that Valérie had spotted on Instagram with a view to publishing it in the magazine.

The boxes contain fabric samples that the customer can take home.

It immediately clicked between them, and the collaborations were linked. The idea then germinated quietly to found something together. “We are very different, even in our looks, but we understand each other and we complement each other very well,” notes Valérie Morisset who, in addition to several writing experiences, has a background in art history and interior design. So naturally, she likes to highlight historical elements and always respects the essence of a house.

For her part, Jacinthe Piotte is a very energetic autodidact attracted by monochrome spaces which soothe her. Like her associate, she has an eye for detail, a love of craftsmanship and a passion for textiles.

Singular window coverings…

Their company was supposed to see the light of day in the spring of 2020, but the arrival of the pandemic changed the situation. “We were a little scared, so we decided to postpone the opening and take the opportunity to refine our project,” recalls Valérie Morisset.

New or old objects and wallpaper samples are presented on a shelf to give a personal touch, like at home.

Initially, the designers wanted to focus on window coverings. “They considerably enhance the decor, they are like the jewel of an interior, but they are often neglected because it is not easy to know which dimensions to choose, which color and which texture”, remarks Jacinthe Piotte. Valerie adds that what most people will go to first with curtains is how to darken the house or hide from neighbors. Certainly, they can carry out these tasks, but also embellish the decor and create a cozy atmosphere.

Among the new objects and vintagethe collection of cushions was made to measure by Maison Tuuli.

The partners therefore support customers in finding the curtains or blinds that are perfectly suited to their tastes, their environment and their budget. They make them to measure and personalize them in particular with piping and velvet or grosgrain ribbons.

We always try to go a step further than what already exists by playing with colors, materials, details and an impeccable fit.

… to the complete decorating service

Over the course of their reflection, the duo wanted to push their offer further by offering a complete design service. “We create serene environments adapted to the needs of the customers, then to their way of life by privileging the luminosity and the desired atmosphere”, informs Valérie Morisset.

Both bring freshness and refinement thanks to beautiful finds of furniture and new or used objects in a contemporary condo as well as in an ancestral home and whatever the style of decor. “Our strength is to combine creativity with timelessness,” says the designer.
