(Istanbul) A young masked man, wearing a helmet and bulletproof vest, stabbed and injured at least five people on Monday, one of them seriously, before being neutralized in the garden of a mosque in Eskisehir, Turkey, local press reported.
The 18-year-old suspect, armed with a long knife, filmed his attack in a mosque tea garden and broadcast it live on X, before being apprehended by the police and taken into custody, according to these sources.
Some media outlets report seven injured people, one of whom is lying on the ground according to X-rated images.
“The attacker was dressed like a game character, with an axe at his waist, wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet, his face masked,” Eskisehir Durum website reported.
The footage he took of himself shows that he was also wearing goggles over his mask, completely obscuring his face.
Several sites claim that he wore a “black sun” on his chest, a Nazi symbol made up of three swastikas.
The attacker did not shout or claim responsibility for his actions, according to the daily Cumhuriyet, which claims that he was “influenced by war games.”
