Turcot interchange | One person dies in collision

(Montreal) A fatal collision involving several vehicles occurred Sunday morning on Highway 15 southbound in Montreal, as police investigate a possible hit-and-run.

Emergency services responded to the Turcot interchange area, on Highway 15, at the ramp leading to Route 136, eastbound around 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

One person is believed to have died in the collision, as his death was confirmed at the scene. His gender or age have not been confirmed. A young man of minor age is currently in hospital as a precaution, but his life is not in danger.

According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a motorist possibly involved in this accident left the scene. The police managed to locate his abandoned vehicle a few hundred meters away, but there was “no one on board,” said Adam Marineau, spokesperson for the SQ.

The SQ’s major crimes division is responsible for shedding light on the causes and circumstances of the accident and several witnesses will be interviewed.

The closure of the ramp leading to Route 136 in the east direction was therefore announced “for an indefinite period,” added Adam Marineau.
