Elvis Merzlikins made 38 saves, but Columbus couldn’t avoid a sixth straight loss.

On Thursday, the Penguins will host the New Jersey Devils.

Charlie Lindgren sparkles against Knights, beaten 3-0

Charlie Lindgren stopped 35 shots and the Washington Capitals won a third straight game on Tuesday, inflicting a 3-0 defeat on the Vegas Golden Knights.

Lindgren earned his third career shutout, his first with the Capitals.

The scorers were Dylan Strome, Connor McMichael and Beck Malenstyn.

McMichael scored into an empty net and Malenstyn added the real finishing touch, once Logan Thompson was back in the post.

Strome leads the team with seven goals this season.

Washington has only lost twice in nine games.

The team is doing very well despite one of the most discreet attacks in the league this season.

The Capitals are also struggling on the power play, having been 0 for 3 at this level on Tuesday (for a success rate of 7.3% in 2023-24).

The Knights were beginning a five-game road trip. They will be at the Bell Center on Thursday evening.

Three points for David Pastrnak, the Bruins win 5-2 against the Sabers

David Pastrnak had a goal and two assists, leading the Boston Bruins to a 5-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabers on Tuesday.

Danton Heinen, Brandon Carlo, Oskar Steen, and Hampus Lindholm all scored their first goals of the campaign for the Bruins, who are 3-0-1 in their last four meetings.

Linus Ullmark made 31 saves in the victory.

The 11the Pastrnak’s season-ending goal was the second of five consecutive goals for the Bruins.

Victor Olofsson scored both goals for the Sabres.

Quebecer Devon Levi turned away 13 of the 18 pucks aimed at him before being replaced by Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in the second period.

Luukkonen stopped 14 shots for the Sabres, who have just one win in their last four games.

Tage Thompson suffered an upper-body injury when he blocked a Charlie McAvoy shot in the second period. He did not return to the game afterward.

Sabers captain Kyle Okposo competed in a 1000e game in the NHL.

Connor stands out in Jets’ 6-3 win over Devils

Kyle Connor had two goals and an assist on Tuesday, helping the Winnipeg Jets win 6-3 against the New Jersey Devils.

Connor and Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs lead the National League with 13 goals this season.

Nikolaj Ehlers completed a double into an empty net.

Cole Perfetti scored his fourth goal in four games.

Morgan Barron also scored, while Josh Morrissey tied a team record with four assists.

Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves for Winnipeg (8-5-2), which played in front of 11,717 fans at the Canada Life Centre.

Timo Meier, John Marino and Dawson Mercer responded.

Akira Schmid stopped 25 shots for the Devils, who were beaten in their last three games.

Ehlers sent the puck into an empty net with 1:30 on the clock.

With 538 games in a Jets uniform, he passed Slava Kozlov in 10e rank of history in this chapter.

Winnipeg will host the Buffalo Sabers on Friday.

Jordan Binnington made 30 saves to help the St. Louis Blues defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-0 on Tuesday.

It was Binnington’s first shutout this season and 13e in career.

Jordan Kyrou and Jakub Vrana scored 19 seconds apart in the second period. Kyrou completed his double in an empty net at the end of the match.

Colton Parayko and Kasperi Kapanen also scored for the Blues, who won a third straight game.

Jonas Johansson blocked 24 shots for the Lightning, who lost a third straight game, including the last two by shutout.

With an assist, Robert Thomas collected a point in a seventh straight game. He totaled five goals and 11 points during this stretch.

Matt Duchene scores in overtime

Matt Duchene scored 42 seconds into overtime and the Dallas Stars defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3 on Tuesday to record their fourth straight victory.

Duchene and Tyler Seguin scored a goal and added an assist.

Esa Lindell and Roope Hintz also found the back of the net for the Stars, who had at least one point in an 18e straight game against the Coyotes (17-0-1). Their last loss to the Coyotes in Dallas dates back to February 7, 2012.

Jake Oettinger made 23 saves to help the Stars extend their lead at the top of the Central Division, five points ahead of the Colorado Avalanche.

Clayton Keller, Lawson Crouse and Jason Zucker responded for the Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka, who has not won in his last six games, stopped 30 shots.

Coyotes defenseman Juuso Valimaki had to be escorted off the ice in the third period after receiving a puck in the face. He did not return to the game.

Urho Vaakanainen scored his first NHL goal with 3:51 remaining to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old defenseman had not hit the target in his first 78 games in the NHL.

Radko Gudas scored a Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, an assist and a major penalty for fighting.

Cam Fowler also scored for the Ducks, who won their fifth straight road game, including four coming from behind.

John Gibson made 29 saves.

Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi lit the red light for the Predators, who suffered a fourth straight loss. They have lost six of their last seven games.

Juuse Saros stopped 17 pucks in front of the local favorites’ net.

The Ducks will look to extend their road winning streak when they visit the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
