Martin Necas scored his second overtime goal this season on Tuesday, allowing the Carolina Hurricanes to win 3-2 against the Buffalo Sabres.
Necas redirected a pass from Sebastian Aho, a minute and a half into the added period.
The Czech also scored in overtime on October 26, at the expense of the Seattle Kraken.
Tony DeAngelo and Brady Skjei were the other scorers for the Hurricanes, who have won five of their last six games.
DeAngelo’s net was scored on the power play; Carolina hit the target in this context for a fifth game in a row.
Antti Raanta made 19 saves, being beaten by Alex Tuch and Rasmus Dahlin.
Tuch scored a third goal in two games.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 24 shots.

Kaprizov tips the scales in favor of the Wild

Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek scored on back-to-back shots in the third period Tuesday, propelling the Minnesota Wild to a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders.
Kaprizov broke the 2-2 deadlock at 6:50. Eriksson Ek followed up at 7:32 with the help of Pat Maroon, who had just snatched the disc from Pierre Engvall.
Maroon scored in the first period, as did the opponent’s Noah Dobson.
Dobson scored in a second straight game.
In the middle period, Oliver Wahlstrom hit the mark before the response from Vinni Lettieri of the Wild.
Wahlstrom scored his first goal since December 9. He suffered a torn knee ligament on December 27, returning to action on October 21.
Winning goalie Marc-André Fleury made 27 saves, as did Semyon Varlamov.

Rangers beat Red Wings 5-3

Vincent Trocheck scored two goals, Chris Kreider and Artemi Panarin had a goal and an assist and the New York Rangers beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-3 on Tuesday.
Will Cuylle was the other scorer for the winners.
Erik Gustafsson had two assists, while Jonathan Quick made 25 saves.
Rangers led 5-0 after 40 minutes.
Michael Rasmussen gave the Red Wings their first goal at 7:55 of the third period.
Klim Kostin scored his first goal with the Wings just 20 seconds later.
Andrew Copp scored his fifth of the season at 13:49 to make it 5-3.
The Rangers improved to 7-1-2 in their last 10 meetings against the Red Wings.
Trocheck opened the scoring after just 1:40 of action, with a shot from a tight angle.
Kreider doubled his team’s lead at 7:31 of the second period, deflecting Gustafsson’s shot to score his sixth of the campaign on the power play.
Trocheck scored again for the Rangers on the power play, with a slap shot.
Ville Husso blocked 27 shots.

Connor scores two goals and the Jets win

Kyle Connor scored two goals, Mark Scheifele had a goal and an assist and the Winnipeg Jets defeated the St. Louis Blues 5-2 on Tuesday.
Neil Pionk and Cole Perfetti also found the back of the net for the Jets.
The team signed a second victory in a row, after a series of three losses.
The Jets are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games against the Blues.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 20 shots, trailing only Robert Thomas and Brayden Schenn.
Jordan Binnington made 32 saves.
Perfetti scored his second goal of the campaign into an empty net.
Schenn had just scored for the Blues with 8:08 to go.
Connor scored his second goal of the game early in the third period, leading his team with eight goals this season.
Binnington came out of his net to play the puck and was caught wrong. The Jets took a 4-1 lead at that point.
Connor got his first of the game when his shot deflected off Nick Leddy’s stick in the opening minutes of the second period.
Pionk gave the Jets a 2-0 lead, but Thomas closed the gap 40 seconds later.
Alex Iafallo passed to Scheifele and he went with a slap shot for his fifth goal of the season, on the power play. His goal gave the Jets a 1-0 lead midway through the first period.
