Bobby McMann scored a hat trick and the Toronto Maple Leafs won 4-1 against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.

William Nylander was the other Maple Leafs scorer.

Ilya Samsonov made 14 saves, being foiled only by Alexey Toropchenko.

Mitch Marner and John Tavares were absent from the Toronto side (a last minute decision, neither feeling well enough to play).

Jordan Binnington blocked 28 shots for the Blues, who were 7-1-0 in their last eight games.

Toronto will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

The same day, the Blues will host the Edmonton Oilers.

Luukkonen makes 33 saves in Sabers’ 7-0 win over Kings

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 33 shots.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped all 33 shots he faced to record his fourth career shutout and the Buffalo Sabers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 7-0 on Tuesday.

All four of Luukkonen’s shutouts have come this season. The Finn thus became the first Sabers goalie since Ryan Miller, in 2011-12, to shut out his opponents four times during a single campaign.

Jordan Greenway scored a double, helping the Sabers end a three-game losing streak at home. Rasmus Dahlin, JJ Peterka and Alex Tuch also contributed to this victory with a goal and an assist each.

Kyle Okposo and Zach Benson were the other scorers for the home favorites, who scored the first goal in a match for the first time in eight games.

David Rittich surrendered five times on 17 shots in 40 minutes for the Kings, who started the day ranked second in fewest goals allowed with 127. In relief, Cam Talbot allowed two goals on seven shots.

The Kings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 on Saturday in interim head coach Jim Hiller’s first game at the helm of the club.

Three goals for Brady Tkachuk in a 6-3 Senators victory

Brady Tkachuk scored his second career hat trick on Tuesday, helping the Ottawa Senators win 6-3 over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tkachuk scored twice on the power play.

Claude Giroux threaded the needle in inferiority, in addition to being complicit in two goals.

Ridly Greig and Erik Brannstrom were the other scorers for the Senators, victorious in their last four games.

Anton Forsberg stopped 36 shots. He was beaten by Dmitri Voronkov, Boone Jenner and Jack Roslovic.

The Senators will be back in action on Thursday when they host Anaheim.

Daniil Tarasov made 24 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have just one win in their last five games.

Columbus was 0 for 5 with the man advantage.

Lehkonen scores 4 points in Avalanche’s 6-3 win over Capitals

Artturi Lehkonen scored two goals

Artturi Lehkonen scored two goals and added two assists and the Colorado Avalanche ended a four-game losing streak by defeating the Washington Capitals 6-3 on Tuesday.

The former Montreal Canadiens forward and his linemates Ross Colton and Miles Wood scored four of the visitors’ six goals in the game.

Colton scored on a two-on-one run off a pass from Wood in the first period and had an assist himself on Lehkonen’s first goal.

Lehkonen then served a no-look pass to Mikko Rantanen, who scored on the power play, then added an empty-net goal. Wood also placed the puck in an abandoned net.

Devon Toews was the other scorer for the Avalanche, who signed their first victory in their fifth game of a trip to the East which includes six in total. Alexandar Georgiev made 24 saves.

Alexander Ovechkin scored in a sixth straight game. Connor McMichael and Beck Malenstyn also lit the red light for the Capitals, who have lost eight of their last nine games. Charlie Lindgren blocked 31 pucks.
