Blue Jackets win 4-3 over Maple Leafs

Patrik Laine broke the deadlock in overtime to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 4-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

Early in overtime, Jakub Voracek stepped into Maple Leafs territory and immediately handed it over to Laine, who scored the game-winning goal with a wrist shot into the top of the net.

With his second goal of the game, Laine gave the Blue Jackets a third consecutive victory.

Adam Boqvist and Brendan Gaunce scored the other Blue Jackets goals, while Jean-François Bérubé made 39 saves.

Bérubé also earned his first career NHL assist.

Jason Spezza had forced the presentation of overtime by scoring at 17:54 of the third period.

Auston Matthews and Michael Bunting scored the other goals for the Maple Leafs, which lost a third straight game. Matthews also had two assists.

Jack Campbell stopped 26 shots.

Flyers lose sixth straight game

Vladimir Tarasenko broke the deadlock midway through the third period and the St. Louis Blues beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Tuesday.

He scored 42 seconds after an equalizer from Oskar Lindblom.

Tarasenko leads the Blues with 19 goals and 46 points.

Ivan Barbashev, Brayden Schenn and Brandonf Saad scored the other goals for the Blues, who went 3-1 on their trip East.

Jordan Binnington made 25 saves.

Martin Jones blocked 22 shots for the Flyers, who were losing their sixth straight game.

Philadelphia has only two wins in 21 games.

Carter Hart was sidelined again with an eye infection.

His case will be assessed on a daily basis.

Predators beat Panthers 6-4

The Nashville Predators snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the Florida Panthers 6-4 on Tuesday.

Tanner Jeannot scored two goals, while Filip Forsberg had a goal and an assist. Mikael Granlund, Yakov Trenin and Roman Jusi were the other scorers for the Predators.

Matt Duchene had two assists and David Rittich made 44 saves.

Granlund gave the team the lead with 5:31 left in the third period on the power play. Jeannot completed the mark in an empty net.

Sam Reinhart, Radko Gudas, Sam Bennett and Aaron Ekblad scored for the Panthers, while Jonathan Huberdeau had two assists.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 27 saves.

The Panthers lost at home for the first time in 10 games.

Two Chabot goals in Senators win over Wild

Thomas Chabot scored twice on his return to play as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-3 on Tuesday.

Chabot had missed four games with an upper body injury.

The Beauceron obtained the first and last nets of his own.

Chabot broke the tie 3-3 at 14:15 in the third period.

His long shot deflected off Calen Addison’s stick, before beating Cam Talbot.

Chabot also assisted on Brady Tkachuk’s goal.

Tim Stutzle had the other goal for the Senators, who had lost their last two games.

Anton Forsberg stopped 40 shots for Ottawa, which will host Montreal on Saturday.

Kevin Fiala, Jared Spurgeon and Jon Merrill replied for the Wild.

Talbot made 30 saves for Minnesota, which lost for the third time in four games.
