Jake Allen stopped 36 pucks, while Timo Meier and Dawson Mercer both scored twice to help the New Jersey Devils defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 on Tuesday night.

Alexander Holtz also found the back of the net. Jesper Bratt, Tomas Nosek, Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes all had two assists in the victory.

Marcus Pettersson and Bryan Rust scored the Penguins’ goals. Goaltender Tristan Jarry blocked 33 pucks.

The Penguins have lost nine of their last 12 meetings and 11 of their last 13 road games.

The team has not won in New Jersey since February 24, 2022.

Meier gave the Devils a 2-1 lead with his 20e net of the season, on a power play at 14:20 of play in the second period. It was the striker’s ninth goal in 10 games.

The Devils scored three times in the third period.

Mercer opened the scoring at 5:35 of the first period.

Pettersson tied the game on a slap shot in the second period.

Patrick Kane scores in overtime, Red Wings defeat Blue Jackets 4-3

Patrick Kane scored 48 seconds into overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Kane scored from the left circle after teammate Lucas Raymond tied the game with just 12.6 seconds left in the third period.

Raymond scored twice and scored seven goals in his last five games. His 24 goals this season are a personal high for him.

Moritz Seider was the other scorer for the Red Wings, who had lost eight of their previous nine games. James Reimer made 32 saves.

Zach Werenski had a goal and two assists for the Blue Jackets. Kirill Marchenko and Alexandre Texier also threaded the needle. Daniil Tarasov stopped 23 pucks.

The Blue Jackets, who began a five-game road trip, suffered a fifth loss in six games.
