Trump ineligible in Colorado: “It just strengthened his popularity”

The court’s decision in Colorado to make Donald Trump’s candidacy ineligible during the primary in that state would only be beneficial for the former president, according to political analyst Luc Lavoie.

“Every time they try to stop Trump from moving forward, he rises in the polls,” he says.

The columnist adds that Trump supporters are increasingly mobilizing when politicians and authorities criticize his decisions.

“Really what it does, it reinforces his popularity because everything he says is based on the idea that he is a martyr because he does not work in the system and the people who line up behind Trump are people who are anti-government,” he said.

Is Trump protected by presidential immunity?

In several of his trials, Donald Trump’s lawyers are beginning to find themselves running out of arguments.

The Trump clan’s only defense is presidential immunity.

“When he [le procureur Jack Smith] saw that Trump’s defense hinged on the concept of presidential immunity, he figured there was no point in fighting windmills. The Supreme Court must decide whether or not Donald Trump enjoys immunity,” says Mr. Lavoie.
