Trump family civil trial | Eric Trump assures that his father is “pumped up”

(New York) Eric Trump, one of Donald Trump’s two adult sons, prosecuted with his father and his brother Donald Jr for vast financial frauds, assured Friday that the former American president would come “pumped up” on Monday defend the civil trial in New York that threatens the family real estate empire.

Since Wednesday, the Manhattan courthouse has witnessed a parade of the Trump clan for this civil trial without a jury which started just a month ago.

After Donald Jr and Eric since Wednesday, it should be the turn, on Monday, of the former tenant of the White House (2017-2021) who dreams of returning there on January 20, 2025.

“My dad will obviously be there (Monday). I know he’s pumped. And he thinks it’s one of the most extraordinary injustices he’s ever seen,” youngest adult son Eric Trump, 39, said on the second day of his hearing in New York civil court.

This civil trial in which New York State Attorney General Letitia James is demanding $250 million in damages for financial fraud “is a joke,” Eric Trump defended.

“And guys, we’re going to win this case.” I promise you we’re going to win because we didn’t make a single damn mistake,” he proclaimed.

The empire under threat

This trial threatens the Trump Organization empire in New York and Donald Jr, 45 years old, and Eric, the two vice-presidents of the group, chic suits and ties, with a very neat appearance, have an identical line of defense: they do not did not handle the financial disclosures at the center of the trial, a task left to accountants.

It is from these annual financial statements of Donald Trump, sort of photographs of his fortune listing his properties – such as the Trump Tower in Manhattan – that the New York State Attorney General’s Office accuses the Trumps of having inflated the value of the group’s assets in the 2010s.

Fraudulent maneuvers amounting to billions of dollars, intended to obtain more favorable loans from banks and better insurance conditions, according to the accusation.

While Donald Trump does not face prison time, the civil case could cause him to lose control of part of his real estate empire, in addition to a fine and a ban on managing companies in New York.

This is just one of his many legal troubles. He is criminally charged in four other cases, including one in federal court in Washington for accusations of attempting to overturn the results of the November 2020 presidential election.
