Several truffle growers are launching their project in Isère. They benefit in particular from supervision and also financial aid from the department.

A truffle farmer in Isère, Damien Passerat-de-la-Chapelle is accompanied by his dog Léon to achieve a very specific mission: find truffles. And the animal had flair: in just a few minutes, he spotted three in a place that must remain secret. And for good reason, since the modernization of agriculture, wild truffles like this one have almost disappeared.

To save the Isère truffle, there is a solution: replant it. Two months ago, Guillaume Bert, truffle farmer, planted 150 truffle oaks on a fallow plot. To support him in this project, he was able to count on the support of Serge Varambon, vice-president of the union of truffle growers in Isère. “It’s a job that is not always easy, but we can see that it is taking root”, declares the latter. To support this trend, the Isère department is subsidizing truffle-growing projects. In his case, Guillaume Bert will be reimbursed 40% of the cost of the work.
