Attack drones, rockets capable of reaching cities like Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. But where do Hamas weapons come from?
According to the France 24 Observers team, the type of weapons used by Hamas come straight from Iran. The rockets used by the Al Qassam brigades are also anti-tank rockets, originally designed during the USSR. The drones are also Iranian copies, capable of dropping grenades.
Unsurprising support
“Our people abandoned us in difficult times, but Iran helped us by providing weapons, logistics and training”explained Yahya Sinwar, leader of Hamas in a video in 2019. Thanks to its training, and plans provided by Tehran, Hamas can also manufacture its weapons on site: “some soldiers were sent to Hezbollah camps in Lebanon (…) for training”, explains Ershad Alijani, journalist at France 24 and RFI. Whether imported or manufactured locally, it is undeniable that Hamas weapons bear traces of Iran.
