It is possible today to make anyone say anything thanks to deepfake technology, which is what happened to Kylian Mbappé.

The captain of the French football team, lectured by his father. The video, posted on Twitter, has been viewed more than seven million times. So, is it authentic? No: it’s a deepfake, a trick of which we can see the original. In a tweet, the one who made the video specifies that it is a parody. On closer inspection, we can see the face of Mbappé adult on the body of a schoolboy who is being scolded.

No ban on deepfake

But is it possible to relay a fake video on social networks? For the moment, it is not prohibited. There are even applications that make this type of montage accessible to the general public. Internet users are having a blast. We can see Emmanuel Macron in a cap with tattooed arms, or Tom Cruise in a bathrobe. All this could soon change, as a bill against deepfake could see the light of day.
