TRUE OR FAKE. Is there a network of known paedocriminals in France, as Karl Zero asserts?

Karl Zéro, ex-star of Canal +, has a new daily fight: the fight against pedocrime. To make himself heard on this essential subject, he puts forward shocking theories on various media events. On certain cases, like that of Fourniret or Lelandais, he refutes the conclusion of justice, that of a solitary killer. According to him, they would have obeyed pedophile networks, without providing proof.

In long articles of about ten pages, he does not give any tangible element accrediting the thesis of a network behind the criminal. He multiplies the hypotheses there, as when he imagines a link between Michel Fourniret and Marc Dutroux, because the castle of the first was about thirty kilometers from a place where Dutroux committed his crimes.

“It doesn’t hold. All the people who studied these files, who followed them with precision, the journalists who attended the trial (…), all tell you that it does not hold”, explains Paul Aveline, journalist at Stop on images. In his documentary 1 out of 5Karl Zéro gives the floor to recognized actors in the fight against pedocrime, but also engenders unproven theories on pedocriminal networks in high circles, as when he addresses the apologies of the Church before saying that “other institutions, sharing a taste for secrecy” should follow. He illustrates this accusation with an image of a Masonic lodge.

“Karl Zero had the merit of taking up this subject. Me, on the stories of Fourniret, of Nordahl Lelandais, it also makes us forget in a certain way that 80% of violence takes place in the family space. And so if we attach too much importance to these characters, we forget the major part of the iceberg, intra-family violence”, supports Arnaud Gallais, co-founder of the association Be Brave France. Although it is a scourge that must be fought, the use of rumors and insinuation risks making part of the problem invisible and harming the cause.
