La République en Marche says no one has done better than the French government to support the labor market in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic. An assertion which is not true in view of certain figures.

A leaflet from La République en Marche highlights the measures taken by the government to support the labor market in France in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic, notably taking as an example the partial activity or the solidarity fund for companies . In 2020, in terms of aid, no country would have done better than France. However, according to a report produced by France Stratégie, this is not the case.

All European countries immediately put in place emergency measures to deal with this crisis. The United Kingdom leads the way with an overall effort corresponding to 10.3% of its GDP, followed by Italy (10.2%), the Netherlands (8.4%) and Spain (7 , 3%). France comes in penultimate position (5.7% of its GDP, or 138.6 million euros), just ahead of Germany (4.6%).

Party spokesperson Roland Lescure emphasizes that “we are fortunate to have automatic stabilizers which mean that when growth collapses, when jobs are destroyed, there are these social safety nets that are put in place automatically”, details Roland Lescure. In terms of new spending, it is therefore wrong to say that no one has done more than France. LREM is justified by explaining that it has taken into account the strong social protection system in the country.
