(Ottawa) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “offered his condolences” to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a phone call Monday, as Ukraine grapples with attacks from Russia for a second consecutive winter.
In a report summarizing the conversation between the two leaders, the Prime Minister’s Office said that Mr. Trudeau used the call to offer condolences, on behalf of Canadians, “for the senseless deaths in Ukraine caused by the strong increased indiscriminate attacks by Russia, particularly against critical civilian infrastructure such as apartments, schools and hospitals.”
“The two leaders discussed the situation on the ground and Ukraine’s needs for the coming months. They highlighted the close collaboration between Canada and its partners to meet Ukraine’s needs, particularly in terms of macroeconomic support and military assistance to Ukraine,” we can read in the summary provided by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Last Friday, Mr. Trudeau and several federal government ministers came to the defense of Ukraine on social networks, following a major operation during which Russia fired around a hundred missiles at several cities Ukrainians, leaving at least 30 dead.
