Inflation does not go unnoticed for employees and their purchasing power. They are therefore demanding a rise in wages, as is particularly the case for truck drivers.

In December 2021, the price increase reached + 2.8%. Deemed essential during the health crisis, truck drivers are now calling for an increase in wages. In Alençon (Orne), Arnaud Baziez, truck driver, has been going without a midday meal for several years to be satisfied with a simple bottle of water to “to grab a few euros at the end of each month”. In 23 years of career, he earned two euros net more per hour.

“20 years ago, I was living very well on my salary. Now, I must have struggled to get out of it”, deplores Arnaud Baziez. The charges are always higher, both for employees and employers. In Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), a boss nonetheless decided to increase the salaries of these drivers by + 5%. However, he assures that he can not go beyond, being also in difficulty. An agreement could be found Wednesday January 5 between the partners social.
