Trois-Rivières | Edible cannabis products intended for young people seized by police

(Trois-Rivières) Two individuals were arrested for drug trafficking in a home in downtown Trois-Rivières where police notably seized edible cannabis products intended for young people.

Investigators from the Trois-Rivières Police Department (DPTR) arrived Wednesday morning at a home on rue Gervais, after receiving information that the occupants were selling several illicit substances from their home.

At the scene, they arrested a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman. Both were released and are expected to face charges of possession of illicit cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and drug trafficking.

Police also conducted a search which resulted in the seizure of a variety of narcotics and prescription drugs.

In a press release sent Thursday at the end of the day, the DPTR indicates that it has found cannabis products in the form of jujubes, cereals and biscuits which are not on sale at the SQDC.

The police say they are taking advantage of “the opportunity to increase parental vigilance regarding the packaging” of these products which remain attractive to a young clientele.

“These look exactly like real, harmless treats sold in convenience stores, apart from a small cannabis leaf logo in a triangle,” explains the DPTR.

The latter mentions having also seized as part of its operation cocaine, MDMA, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), hashish, methamphetamines as well as contraband tobacco, among others.
