Triple murder in Rivière-des-Prairies | A fourth suspect arrested

A fourth suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with the triple homicide which occurred last August in Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles. The young man arrested, 21, is expected to appear before a judge by Wednesday.

This was revealed by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) at the end of Tuesday afternoon, in a brief press release, specifying nevertheless that “the police investigation is continuing in order to identify d ‘other individuals involved in this event’.

For investigators, this is the fourth arrest in two months in this case. In mid-October, three men were arrested in Laval and Montreal-North in connection with this triple homicide, which sent shock waves through the neighborhood at the end of the summer. They were then Clifford Domercant-Barosy, 26, Marlon Francisco Villa-Guzman, 25, and Jonas Castor, 23.

The three suspects face counts of first degree murder on three victims, attempted murder on two victims and discharging a firearm. At that time, police also seized two handguns, ammunition, cellphones, narcotics and other evidence.

In recent months, “many efforts have been made by the Major Crimes Section and other units to identify all those responsible for this triple homicide which shook the metropolis”, reiterates the Montreal police. “The new arrest this morning was carried out at the Bordeaux prison, where the suspect was detained in connection with a firearm discharge in Laval”, one indicates besides on this subject.

On August 2, around 7 p.m., before dark, armed individuals had fired several times in the direction of an apartment in a residential building on Boulevard Perras, near the intersection of 53e Avenue. Five men were shot; three of them succumbed to their injuries. Two days later, the authorities announced the formation of a team made up of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the SPVM to fight against firearms trafficking and related crimes.

According to the authorities, in the minutes which followed the detonations, several witnesses had telephoned 911 to report the shots as well as the flight of the suspects in two vehicles.
