Tribute to Prince Philip: Princess Beatrice moved to tears, her sister Eugenie by her side

The two sisters and young mothers left their little ones at home for a big formal family reunion. This Tuesday, March 29, 2022, as announced by Buckingham several months ago, the ceremony honoring Prince Philip was held in Westminster Abbey, London. Around Queen Elizabeth, whose arrival was uncertain until the last moment, the British royal family was (almost) complete. Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice were naturally present, accompanied by their respective husbands.

The two couples arrived at the same time in front of the religious building: Beatrice of York (33) and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi ahead of Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank by a few steps. The eldest of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was elegant in her black coat with pleated details, brightened up with a pink dress, a pair of burgundy velvet pumps and a matching clutch. But the centerpiece of her look was for sure her wide headband with a veil adorned with flowers. Her younger sister Princess Eugenie (32) had also bet on a headband with a veil to complete her ensemble consisting of a long pleated floral dress Erdem and a black bolero.

The two princesses therefore left their two young children at home: August (1 year), Eugenie’s son probably remained at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, and Sienna (6 months), Beatrice’s daughter, who lives in St James’s Palace. (in London). Several children were still present in Westminster, starting with Prince George and Princess Charlotte (8 and 6 years old), the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Lady Louise Windsor and her brother Viscount James also accompanied their parents, Prince Edward and Countess Sophie of Wessex. Princess Anne came with her husband and two children, Peter Phillips (with daughters Isla and Savannah) and Zara Tindall (with husband Mike Tindall and their eldest Mia).

Once inside the abbey, several members of the Firm showed their emotion, almost a year after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Beatrice quietly wiped away a few tears at the start of the service, briefly hiding behind her booklet, consoled by her husband Edoardo. Elizabeth II also appeared with tears in her eyes…
