The trial for domestic violence of Bruno Pelat, companion of Iris Mittenaere crowned Miss France and Miss Universe in 2016, was postponed Friday to November 6, at the request of the victim who wished to be able to attend. Iris Mittenaere, aged 31, “believes that she was not able to tell everything at the police station, but she is not psychologically capable today of coming to the hearing”justified his lawyer, Me Emilie Bruézière. The defendant, 22 years old and “president of a real estate development company”is accused of having beaten her, of having hit her head against a wall and of having threatened to “to blow up” its contracts, since June 2024.

Black hair combed back, bearded, he was to be tried on Friday in immediate appearance for domestic violence without total incapacity for work, but the trial was postponed. While waiting for the hearing, he will have to comply with a judicial review, which prohibits him “to come into contact in any way, including through social networks, with the victim” and forces him to live in another department, lists the president.

The prosecutor had nevertheless requested his pre-trial detention, “to avoid any risk of reiteration of the facts against the civil party and any other companion that Mr. could have”. The young man had already been sentenced in June 2022 for violence and death threats against his father, then in April 2023 for violence against another partner.

Bruno Pelat has “a recourse to threats and violence which seems to be a habitual recourse in the context of the relationships he maintains with those around him”estimated the prosecutor. And he has already benefited from “extremely lenient sentences” in the past: “exemption from sentence and simple reprieve”she recalls.

More rarely, Iris Mittenaere herself had requested, through her lawyer, that Bruno Pelat not be imprisoned. “She told me: ‘I don’t want pre-trial detention. What matters is that he is forbidden to come near me’“, reported lawyer Emilie Bruézière.

At these words, Bruno Pelat collapsed in tears in the box: “Obviously, my goal is not to harm her. (…) I would not have tried to reconnect with her”. The young man, who had been in a relationship with Iris Mittenaere for six months, argued “impulsivity problem” and told “fear abandonment”. “I don’t know my mother”he blurted.
