Trial of Dominico Scarfo | The accused at the heart of a trap aimed at making him speak

The individuals involved in the murder of mafioso Rocco Sollecito committed in 2016 found themselves, three years later, at the heart of a police strategy aimed at making them speak.

This is what the jurors at the trial of Dominico Scarfo have been able to see in recent days, listening to extracts from recordings made by a police mole.

Dominico Scarfo is currently on trial for plotting and committing the murders of Montreal Mafia captains Lorenzo Giordano and Rocco Sollecito, which occurred in March and May 2016, in Laval.

In the case of Sollecito, Scarfo would have driven a car in front of that of the captain of the mafia, and would have made a mandatory stop for long seconds, thus forcing Sollecito to stop his SUV, which facilitated the task of the killer who got out of a bus shelter placed at the intersection.

Rocco Sollecito was driving his white BMW SUV when he was shot by several projectiles fired by an individual who came out of this bus shelter.

Subsequently, the killer fled on a motorcycle on which a third accomplice was waiting, whose identity cannot be revealed under a publication ban.

The killer, whose identity is also protected, collaborated with the investigators of the Sûreté du Québec three years later and recorded without their knowledge, with a portable recording device, the other individuals supposedly involved in the murder of Sollecito, including Dominico Scarfo.

“We must destroy the motorcycle”

On the morning of September 10, 2019, police released a photo of the two suspects on the motorcycle and invited anyone with information to contact them.

On the same day, the hitman-turned-civilian-undercover-agent (ACI) for the police – who was then wearing his recording device – and Scarfo met the 3and suspect – whose name we must conceal – and his father.

“They’re looking for two people,” Scarfo said.

“My friend texted me this morning. It’s on TV. Ah, the business host, ”continued the hitman who became ACI.

“They say there are two men on the bike. They are looking for this bike,” added Scarfo.

” It’s true. But a motorcycle, do you know how many motorcycles there are? “replied the father of the 3and suspect.

“We have to destroy it,” Scarfo then launched.

” Is not here the motorbike. She’s not in Montreal,” replied the father.

“Good, but make her disappear,” ordered the hitman.

A motorcycle found seven days later

Last week, the jury learned, with photos filed in court, that a motorcycle, presumably this one, was found damaged in the shed of a property in Nova Scotia on September 17, 2019, namely a week after the police released the photo of the killers and the motorbike.

The damaged motorcycle was found seven days later in Nova Scotia.

The motorcycle, and a license plate that the police found with the machine, were in the name of the father of the 3and suspect that cannot be identified.

The trial, which is being presided over by Superior Court Judge Michel Pennou, did not advance on Monday due to a problem in the translation of the conversations on the recordings, which mix English, French and Italian.

It should resume normally Tuesday morning with the continuation of the listening to the recordings made by the mole of the police.
