(Sarasota) The Baltimore Orioles have signed slugger Trey Mancini to a one-year, $7.5 million contract, bypassing the arbitration process.

The contract also provides for a mutual option for the 2023 season in the amount of 10 million US.
Mancini, 30, missed the entire 2020 season after being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He made a remarkable comeback in 2021 hitting .255 with 21 long balls and 71 points products. He had also maintained a combined power and presence on base (OPS) average of .758 in 147 games.
Invited to the All-Star Game, he finished second in the home run contest behind New York Mets star Pete Alonso.
