The Athletic reporter Aaron Portzline reports that Timmins will be a scout and will have specific assignments.
Portzline says Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen confirmed the news himself on Wednesday morning.
Trevor Timmins worked in Montreal for two decades. He will have notably been director of hockey operations and head of amateur recruiting.
He was fired at the same time as Marc Bergevin in the fall of 2021.
