The Nashville Predators School Club announced Thursday that the 38-year-old has signed a contract, the duration of which was not specified. The Everblades are grappling with multiple cases of COVID-19 within their roster.
Daley confirmed in a short social media video Friday that he will indeed be making a comeback on the ice, as his new team face the South Carolina Stingrays in the evening.
The Ontarian hung up his skates on October 26, 2020, after 16 seasons on the Bettman Tour. He played his last campaign in 2019-20, collecting seven assists in 43 games with the Detroit Red Wings.
When announcing his retirement, the two-time Stanley Cup winner said he was becoming an advisor to the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey department, a position he will continue to hold despite his time with the Everblades.
