Trends 2023 according to Etsy | Duality, marble and forms in fusion

The next trends for 2023 will be under the sign of duality, predicts the web platform Etsy. “Multiple trends—sometimes seemingly opposite ones—show that they can coexist at the same time,” says Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson.

Interior designer Geneviève Simard likes the concept of duality and encourages the integration of mixtures – of textures, for example – into the decor. But be careful not to be too influenced by trends, she warns. “Go with your favourites,” says the interior stylist. Does your eye like it? Does it make you vibrate? Listen to yourself! »

Etsy chose two contrasting colors “that bring out the sparkle in each other” to be their colors of the year for 2023. Indigo – a mix of blue and purple – “carries a tone that is both punchy and futuristic,” Dayna Isom Johnson said in a statement. Honey yellow, on the other hand, brings brightness to the decor.

Marble, key element

“Marble is always going to be beautiful, it always has been and it always will be,” says Geneviève Simard. It’s a classic material that brings “dimension to a space,” sums up Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson.

According to Etsy, the year 2023 will see the emergence of new interpretations of marble, whether “new colors like green and burgundy” or “original pieces with heavily veined patterns”. What if we don’t have the budget to invest in this stone (or even the energy for maintenance)? You can adopt small objects or opt for “finishes that imitate marble and are even less porous,” specifies Geneviève Simard.

More and more people will be gravitating toward decorative items that mimic the movement of molten lava, Etsy says. The decorative pieces, whether glass, ceramic or even mirror objects, will reproduce “the melting and textured shapes” of the lava.

This trend is a continuation of that of organic shapes that interior designer Geneviève Simard particularly appreciates. “I’ve been chasing this kind of object for years,” she says. So it’s good that there will be a wave of objects with organic shapes. According to Etsy, this aesthetic is “a dynamic contrast to the more geometric styles” we’ve seen in recent years.
