Tremblant World Cup | Grenier passes, Quebecers suffer the cut

Valérie Grenier took provisional sixth position at the end of the first round at the Tremblant World Cup on Saturday.

The Ontarian who grew up on the slopes of Tremblant had a few setbacks at the start of the course, slowing her down. However, she recovered well at the bottom of the track to cross the finish line in 1:07.27. She is in sixth position at the end of the first round.

The Italian Frederica Brignone, the Swede Sara Hector and the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami took first, second and third position respectively.

The two biggest surprises of this round were Canadians Britt Richardson and Cassidy Gray, who were able to shrug off the poor conditions by taking 10e and the 24e provisional position.

Three Quebecers completed the Canadian delegation. Sarah Bennett fell in the second sector when she caught her spatulas in a door.

Justine Clément (1:11.68) finished 51e and Justine Lamontagne (1:12.73) closed the table in 54e position.
