Travis Kelce, disgraceful all the way!

I would like to specify here, from the outset, that I do not particularly like professional sport. For what ? There are different reasons. One of them concerns the violence found, among other things, in hockey. Battles are still allowed in the NHL and body checks have become devastating. At the Super Bowl on Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce gave us a spectacle of such desolation, a scene that I would describe as extreme mediocrity. Let us recall the facts here. He yelled at his head coach while pushing him around and came within a hair’s breadth of beating him. And this, in front of millions of viewers. A real raging madman.

So, I thought of Jack Nicholson’s character in the film The Shining. All because said coach decided not to play him. An unsightly gesture across the board. An atypical display of verbal violence — almost unheard of in professional sport. It was pitiful to see. And to think that it is this football player that Taylor Swift fell in love with. Worrying. Here’s something to meditate on Wednesday on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

In my opinion, Travis Kelce spoiled the 2024 Super Bowl, while bringing shame to this most popular sport in the United States, without forgetting the team that recently honored us here in Quebec by winning the 2023 Gray Cup, i.e. the Montreal Alouettes.

I myself have already worked in college football as a quarterback and inside linebacker, and I have very fond memories of it. During these years, I have never seen a player attack a coach. In fact, the notion of respect for our coaches was sacred.
