Casually, next year, Guy Bélanger will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his decisive meeting with the late Bob Walsh. With the breath he had (and still has), it was done: the harmonica player was going to be the perfect ally. Who hasn’t he played with? The feat will have been to exist under its own brand. Without much fanfare, here is his ninth album, to be cherished like the others. Best ? Possibly. Question of landscaping: the harmonica is not everywhere. In its best place, and only there. The collaborations along the way are always reunions: with the guitarist Claude Fradette, with the singer Sylvie DesGroseillers, friend Guy knows how to dose, give, share. His game is raw or refined, depending on the state of the bitumen. Like the best travellers, he goes where he wants, blends in with places. An ace AND a nice guy. Are we leaving with him?
