(Paris) British driver Lewis Hamilton said on Saturday he was “incredibly lucky” to realize “another childhood dream” by joining the Ferrari team in 2025 after 12 seasons at Mercedes, to whom he promises a total commitment of here when he left.
“I feel incredibly lucky, having achieved things with Mercedes that I could only have dreamed of as a child, to now have the opportunity to realize another childhood dream. Driving a red Ferrari,” he wrote on his social networks.
If the seven-time Formula 1 world champion believes that it is time for him to “start a new chapter of [sa] life”, he however wanted to reassure his supporters by specifying that he remained focused on the next deadlines with Mercedes, while the 2024 season will begin on March 2 in Bahrain after three days of tests in this Gulf State (21-23 FEBRUARY).
“For the moment, I am not thinking about 2025. I am focusing on the coming season and my return to the track with Mercedes. I’m more motivated than ever, I’m fitter and more focused than ever and I want to help Mercedes win once again […] and end my partnership with the team on a good note,” he said.
This is the first public expression of the 39-year-old superstar since the resounding announcement of his upcoming transfer to the ranks of the legendary prancing horse stable.
Ferrari will be the third team for the Briton, who arrived in F1 in 2007 with McLaren and became world champion the following season at the age of 23.
