Transat Jacques Vabre skippers go green

For several years, technology has continued to progress and even play a predominant role in offshore racing sailboats. But sailors are increasingly sensitive to the environment and are trying to innovate in this direction. Stan Thuret, skipper of the Class40 Everial, will test a sail made from 40% Normandy linen. “Linen are large fibers, we manage to hook them, braid them and make fibers 80 cm long, and linen is stronger than plastic!”

Stan Thuret and Mathieu Crepel will also take a small coffee plant to Martinique. A symbol to remind you that he is a Norman sailor, Gabriel de Clieu of Dieppe, which had brought the very first coffee plan to Martinique during the time of Louis XV, before the plant spread throughout South America.
