(Calgary) Trans Mountain has announced that its President and CEO, Dawn Farrell, will become Chair of the company’s Board of Directors on July 1,er september.
The Crown corporation, which operates Canada’s only crude oil pipeline system between Alberta and the West Coast, announced that current board chairman Bill Downe is retiring after six years in the role.
“It has been a privilege to work with the Trans Mountain management team as they navigated unprecedented challenges to complete the expansion of the pipeline,” Downe said in a statement.
“What I am most proud of, as I look back on my time on the Trans Mountain board, is that we have proven to the world that Canada can develop major infrastructure with the highest levels of safety, governance, environmental stewardship and sustainability, all while working hand in hand with impacted Indigenous communities across this country. That is truly something we can celebrate from coast to coast to coast,” he added.
Trans Mountain begins succession plan to replace Mme Farrell, who has been president and CEO since 2022.
The company says its board of directors unanimously approved M’s transitionme Farrell as chair of the board in recognition of her track record of success at Trans Mountain. A news release noted her “great success at Trans Mountain, her previous experience as chair of other business organizations and her deep knowledge of the Canadian energy landscape gained over more than 40 years in the industry.”
During Mr.me Farrell, Trans Mountain has completed its long-awaited $34 billion pipeline expansion. The expansion increased the Trans Mountain system’s capacity from 300,000 barrels per day to 890,000 barrels per day.
“We are pleased that Dawn Farrell has agreed to continue working for Trans Mountain in this new role as Chair of the Board of Directors. Dawn’s proven leadership and track record position her well for this new role,” said Steve Swaffield, Chair of the Board of Directors of Canada Development Investment Corporation, Trans Mountain’s parent company, and a member of the Trans Mountain Board of Directors, in a statement.
