In an agricultural high school in Montmorillon (Vienna), there are 265 students enrolled from third grade to BTS, with, for all, the prospect of obtaining a diploma. “There are many who are sons of operators and who want to try to know at least the basics of mechanics to be able to try to fend for themselves a little more”confides a man.
14,132 farm managers settled in 2022
In France, according to the latest figures from agricultural social security, 14,132 farm managers have settled in 2022. An increase of 1.6%. Among these new settlers, 70% were young farmers. Corentin is an example. A former agricultural student, he obtained three diplomas. Before setting up, new farmers often undergo extensive training. “In terms of accounting, this is above all what we need today”, specifies Corentin. After the Covid-19 period, the Ministry of Agriculture recorded 45,717 agricultural apprentices, a historic level up 22%.
