Alongside the fatalities, at least 16 others, including a child, were injured, and several residential structures suffered damage, according to emergency services reports.

New Leadership in Russia’s Kursk Region

In a recent shift, Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Alexander Chinschtein, a well-known figure with Kremlin ties, as the new governor of the Kursk region, which is partially controlled by Ukraine. OSCE Welcomes New Secretary-General

Ukraine Unveils New Long-Range Missile Drone

On the occasion of the Ukrainian armed forces’ day, Kyiv unveiled a new rocket-powered drone named ‘Peklo’ (meaning ‘Hell’). President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the significance of equipping defenders with such advanced Ukrainian-made weaponry, emphasizing the need to scale up both production and deployment. This drone boasts a range of up to 700 kilometers and is expected to operate at speeds of 700 kilometers per hour.

The Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, announced on Telegram that the first batch of these drones has already been delivered to the military. He mentioned that the development phase lasted one year, with ongoing enhancements in accuracy and electronic countermeasure resistance. ‘We are collectively strengthening the arsenal of the free world,’ Smetanin stated, noting that the drone could target installations deep within Russian territory, including Moscow.

In August, Zelensky had already introduced another missile drone named ‘Paljanyzja’ (‘Round Bread’) on Independence Day, which also features an extensive range and a warhead exceeding 100 kilograms. Russian Forces Claim More Territorial Gains in Eastern Ukraine

The Russian military has claimed the capture of two additional towns in eastern Ukraine. According to the Defense Ministry in Moscow, troops have advanced into Pustjinka, located roughly ten kilometers south of the strategically vital city of Pokrovsk, along with Suchi Jali near Kurachowe.
