It will be better to avoid the Saint-Pierre interchange area this weekend, where the ramp leading to the city center will be closed again from Friday to Monday. The Honoré-Mercier bridge and Highway 40 will also be subject to occasional obstacles, as will Highway 50 in Mirabel.
This was announced Thursday afternoon by the Mobilité Montréal committee, responsible for coordinating major road works in the metropolitan region.
First, from Friday evening to Monday morning, the ramp leading from Route 138-East from the Honoré-Mercier bridge to Highway 20-East and the city center will have to be closed for a second week in a row. The entrance to rue Clément must also be closed by default. In both cases, marked detours will be put in place, but it is recommended to avoid the area, where heavy congestion is expected.
On the Honoré-Mercier bridge itself, one lane will also have to be cut towards the South Shore between Friday 10 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. The entrance from Airlie Street to Route 138 West will nevertheless remain open.
In Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Highway 40 will have to be completely closed in both directions for three consecutive nights of the weekend.
Eastbound, traffic will be interrupted between exit 41 of Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and the following entrance. Then, in the west direction, it will be between the exit for Boulevard Morgan and the entrance located at Rue des Pins.
Further north, in Mirabel, Highway 50-Guy-Lafleur will also have to be closed in both directions between exit 272-east and exit 279-west, from Friday evening to Saturday morning. The Saint-Simon Road entrance leading to Highway 50 West will also be closed, as will the Route 148 entrance to the same highway. Detours will take place via Route 158.
On the local network, other municipal obstacles are also planned, including a major obstacle which will be in place on Boulevard Crémazie – the service road to the Metropolitan highway – between rue Lajeunesse and avenue Henri-Julien. Montreal must rehabilitate a sewer pipe there. A map of work in progress is available on the City website.
Notice to residents of the West Island of Montreal: a fifth lane will be added this Friday to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, which is still undergoing major work. Until now, only two lanes per direction were accessible. Three lanes will now be maintained in the direction of the point thanks to a removable barrier, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. towards Montreal and from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. towards Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Quebec also confirmed Tuesday that the lane reserved for buses and emergency vehicles “will be removed with the reopening of this fifth lane on the bridge.” Result: three lanes per direction will be open on Highway 40, upstream and downstream of the bridge.
Any obstacle cited above could, however, be canceled or postponed “in the event of unfavorable weather conditions or operational constraints,” warns Mobilité Montréal. It remains recommended to consult the government platform Québec 511 before traveling.
