Traffic congestion in Montreal: “one of the worst weekends,” says MTQ

The weekend will not be easy for motorists in the metropolitan area.

Several major closures are complicating traffic and forcing people to plan their trips. Many works are taking place on strategic motorway axes, including the 40, 25 and 13.

“Since the beginning of the year 2021, it is certainly one of the worst weekends in terms of obstacles, if not the worst”, told TVA Nouvelles the spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport, Sarah Bensadoun.

Here’s a look at the shackles of this weekend.

– Highway 40: complete closure westbound between the Laurentides and Décarie interchanges.

– Highway 25 and the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel: complete closure northbound between exit 90 (La Prairie) and the entrance to Notre-Dame Est and Curatteau streets (Montreal). Southbound, 1 lane is closed between the start of the tunnel and Route 132.

– Saint-Pierre interchange: Complete closure of the ramp connecting Autoroute 20 to Route 138 West and to the Honoré-Mercier Bridge.

– Pont Louis-Bisson (highway 13): In both directions, one lane closed during the day (and two lanes at night and at night).
