Marylise Léon, general secretary of the CFDT, said on Tuesday October 8 on France Inter that she noted a “liberation of racist and anti-Semitic speech in the workplace”, and this in a way “much more spontaneous and assertive”. If the trade unionist does not provide figures, she specifies that she received feedback during “team and employee meetings”. “I was questioned by elected officials”, she adds.
The leader of the CFDT explains that “this manifests itself in arrests or insults at the coffee machine, in front of a witness”. These reports do not seem to be isolated cases, since Marylise Léon assures that she has “seen everywhere in France” And “in different business sectors”. Faced with this observation, the general secretary of the CFDT union pleads for “prevention” and invite “the trade union organizations to be there to stand alongside the victims”.
She recalls that racism and anti-Semitism “are not opinions. It is a crime.”
