A complaint for endangering others was filed by firefighters, exposed daily to toxic products when they intervene. She denounces the lack of prevention and monitoring of firefighters.

They were the heroes of Notre-Dame de Paris in April 2019. With each fire, we salute their commitment, their courage, without knowing that in the long term the fire soldiers endanger their health. The International Agency for Research on Cancer, branch of the WHO, has recognized the activity of firefighters as carcinogenic. For example, firefighters risk a 58% increase in lung cancer due to asbestos dust.

“In France, there are no epidemiological studies”

“We are not protected against smoke, not enough. Health is not monitored. Today there are no indicators while all other countries are able to tell you what firefighters die from , at what age. In France, there are no epidemiological studies”, indicates Sébastien Delavoux, spokesperson for CGT administrative agents for the fire and rescue service. Greasy and sticky soot on the skin, poorly or poorly washed clothes which pollute the trucks. These are all toxic products which, over time, through exposure, attack health. To better recognize these occupational diseases and, above all, for more effective prevention, a complaint was filed for endangering others at the Paris court.
