Wearing a mask in the street was suspended in Paris by a decision of the administrative court, Friday January 14, as in Loire-Atlantique. Will the decisions extend and set a precedent?
In Yvelines, Paris and Loire-Atlantique, the list of departments where the mask is no longer compulsory is growing. Going out without a mask, however, does not convince all the passers-by encountered in Paris on Friday January 14. “I think it’s a shame, because indeed even if I think [qu’il] isn’t of much use on the street, it’s a way to get used to wearing it all the time”says a passerby.
The decision is based on several criteria. The obligation is considered disproportionate and unnecessary by the administrative courts of the departments concerned. According to most scientists, wearing a mask outdoors is not justified. “It’s the principle of aeration. Today we explain that when you’re inside you have to ventilate the rooms to disperse the particles, so you can imagine that when you’re outside, it’s the ‘maximum possible ventilation’explains Doctor Benjamin Davido, infectious disease specialist at Garches hospital (AP-HP).
