In her home, a mother no longer has electricity because she has not paid her last bills. She finds herself in a difficult situation: impossible to heat, to light or to cook for herself and her children. “From 5pm, now it’s dark. No TV, even an emergency, you can’t plug in your phone.”, she explains. The situation is however taken into account by the mayor of the municipality, located in the North.
Several solutions are mentioned, including the establishment of a minimum electricity service. “1000 watts, that really allows the minimum. It’s not comfortable at all, but it allows you to recharge your laptop”, explains Manuel Domergue, director of studies at the Abbé Pierre foundation. However, it is forbidden to cut off the power during the winter break. But millions of French people are impacted by the precariousness of winter.
