Thursday, June 13, all day, the leaders of the left-wing parties met to find an agreement with a view to early legislative elections.
Thursday June 13, left-wing leaders met to create a New Popular Front. The negotiations got bogged down with, at the heart of the tensions, the positions taken on Gaza, but also the criticized candidacy of Adrien Quatennens and the distribution of constituencies. The left-wing executives came to calm things down and discussions resumed. “It’s progressing and there is a desire to succeed”assures Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the PCF.
The embodiment of the movement is another subject of tension. Jean-Luc Mélenchon did not apply for Matignon, but did not close the door either. Some left-wing voters, who are not close to La France insoumise, are opposed to this hypothesis. Others say they will do violence to the RN and the presidential camp. Negotiators hoped to have an agreement signed by the end of the evening.
