Many voters have already registered a proxy to vote in the legislative elections on June 30 and July 7. The turnout could be particularly high.
A short hour’s queue formed in front of a police station in Montrouge (Hauts-de-Seine). The voters came to have their proxy validated. “I’m going to see my boyfriend who lives in Brittany, and so I’m asking my parents to vote for me.“, says one of them. An approach deemed necessary, given the political issues of the moment. “I think there will be a lot of votes, especially among young people (…). People I don’t usually hear from are going to start voting“, predicts one voter.
At the town hall of Châtillon (Hauts-de-Seine), Marie-Laure Legrand is responsible for registering all these proxies and notes a clear increase.In the 2022 legislative elections, we had around 500 proxies for the two rounds. Now, we are already at more than 1,500“, she reveals. More than 2 million proxies are recorded at the national level. A sign announcing a record mobilization, estimated at 63%, according to Ipsos.
