The Twenty-Seven are meeting on Monday, May 30, to try to agree on an embargo on Russian oil.

A meeting takes place between the Twenty-Seven, Monday, May 30, on the question of the embargo on Russian oil. The Europeans could move forward in two stages: by stopping imports by boat, which represents two-thirds of imported Russian oil, but without touching imports by pipeline. This could allow Hungary in particular to gain time. Because this country is only supplied by pipeline, and that is why it is blocking this embargo, for fear of a shortage.

The idea of a partial embargo would resolve this issue and adopt the sixth sanctions package, which has been blocked for a month and which includes other measures: against the oligarchs as well as against Russian banks. The Twenty-Seven will also look into the food crisis to try to find solutions concerning these millions of cereals which are still stuck in Ukraine, explains the journalist from France Télévisions, Julien Gasparutto.
