This Friday, May 24, Road Prevention launched a petition in which it calls for a speed limit of 30 km/h in towns and villages in order to guarantee safety on the roads.

Road Safety calls for more safety on the roads and to do this, a traffic speed limit of 30 km/h in urban areas. In Vienne, the village of Châtellerault has already made this bet. Should this measure be extended to all towns in the metropolitan area? “It’s a question of safety. At least we can cross peacefully. We have time to see the vehicles arriving”, estimates a pedestrian. While for another pedestrian, it is “No” : “We can put the whole city at 30 km/h, there will still be dangerous people and risks for children”.

There Proad safety calls for a generalization of 30 km/h in town. She launched a petition to modify the Highway Code in this direction in order to ease coexistence between motorists, cyclists and pedestrians as well as to improve safety. In 2022, 302 pedestrians died in an accident in urban areas.
